mcnaa year-end donation
Dear MCNAA Members and Supporters:
We hope this letter finds you enjoying the Holiday Season!
We are writing today as winter approaches, to ask for your help so that all of us together can help some of our neediest Native Elders, families and students across the state during the coldest months in the year. Our Social Assistance- Needy Fund helps primarily those households and Elders that are just above the poverty line and don’t qualify for local state or federal services but are in dire need of assistance.
To give you an idea of how crucial your donation is, I will share with you how your generosity helped last year. Coupled with funds we raised, your kind donations helped us pay fuel bills for (25) families and Elders so they would be warm during the winter months. We were able to purchase food gift cards, ranging from $50-$100 and mail one to (15) different families and Elders so they would have food to stay nourished during the cold months. We were also in a position to award (10) scholarships to Native American students who were attending Massachusetts state colleges and universities. Together we provided over $10,000 in assistance to some of our neediest constituents. Your donations helped us to be more effective at what we do…. and our most vulnerable constituents have come to rely on us for urgent and immediate assistance during this time of year. For this Appeal, we are hoping to exceed last years’ $10,000 goal and raise the fundraising bar to $15,000. We can do it with help from generous supporters like you.
Our Board of Directors has come up with three major areas of need that we feel are really at the heart of what we do at the Mass. Center for Native American Awareness.
#1 - Food for Elders and needy Native families. We don’t want one family or one Elder to be hungry and go without food. With your donation to this program, we will be able to feed needy families and Elders during the winter months.
#2 - Heat for Elders and needy Native families. We don’t want one family or one Elder to be cold this winter. With your donation to this program, we will be able to keep Elders and families warm during the winter months and on an emergency basis.
#3 – Scholarship funds for needy Native students who are attending college. Like so many, students are struggling to buy books and put gasoline in their cars to get to school. We want to help all of them with our resources. With your donation to this program, we will be able to help some of them with college related expenses.
Our mission at the Mass. Center for Native American Awareness has not changed. We are more focused than ever on helping our needy constituents across the state…and we need your help!
We have made it very easy for you to donate. Please give what you can and what your heart dictates. Download and fill out the donation form and put it in an envelope with your donation check, and mail it today to our Danvers office (address below.) If you have a PayPal account and prefer to make your donation that way (as it has become popular) that will be terrific as well. Please use our e-mail address (email@example.com) to make the gift.
We are grateful that the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness is included in your annual giving. We don’t take it lightly and appreciate it tremendously. Thank you for working with us for “the cause.”
Happy Holiday Season!
