Ways to Give
At the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness (MCNAA), we believe in taking care of our community, especially those who require the most support (elders), guidance (children), and need (low income, health compromised, etc.). We believe that when we are in a position to help, we are obligated to do what we can to be good ancestors for our future generations.
We hope we can inspire you to help our communities in Massachusetts by making a donation to help support our programs! You can give now or read more below for other ways to make a donation and pay it forward.
The Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness, Inc. is a recognized tax exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All contributions are tax deductible to the extent permissible by law. A gift over $250 will receive a tax receipt letter from MCNAA.
The Need
As a result of historical trauma, chronically underfunded federal programs, and policies of the US government, Native Americans experience many health, educational, and economic disparities compared to the general population.
MCNAA has well-being, educational, and spiritual programs because the Indigenous community, statistically, continues to be in great need.
Did you know…..
20.3 percent of the Native American and Alaska Native population live at the poverty level, as compared to 9.0 percent of the white population?
the median household income for Native Americans and Alaska Natives is $49,906, as compared to $71,664 for white households?
84.4 percent of Native American and Alaska Native students alone or in combination had at least a high school diploma, as compared to 93.3 percent of white students?
20.8 percent of Native Americans and Alaska Natives, age 25 and over, had at least a bachelor's degree, in comparison to 36.9 percent of whites?
7.6 percent of Native Americans and Alaska Natives held an advanced graduate or professional degree, as compared to 13.9 percent of the white population?
51.9 percent of Native Americans and Alaska Natives alone or in combination had private health insurance coverage compared to 74.7 percent of white?
42.1 percent of Native Americans and Alaska Natives relied on Medicaid or public health insurance coverage compared to 34.3 percent of whites?
We are a nonprofit organization that does not receive ongoing grant support. Grant funding is sporadic so we rely primarily on fundraisers and private donations. Although we will graciously accept any amount your heart speaks, the following will be the most helpful:
Social Assistance Program-Needy Fund - (a) $100 will help towards the purchase of $1,500 worth of gift cards to be distributed to needy families so they can purchase fresh food and household supplies, or toward the cost of groceries that MCNAA will purchase for and deliver to some of our Elders who are shut in or reluctant to go to the store themselves; (b) $200 will help towards the payment of utility bills for some of our needy families & Elders.
Scholarship Program - $350 will help MCNAA reach its $10,000 goal to award annual scholarships to Native American college students to help with the cost of books, college supplies, meals, transportation, and other college-related expenses.
Fundraising Events - $500 will help defray the loss of income from our annual fundraising events that have been canceled since the beginning of 2020 (the anniversary banquet & honoring ceremony, 2 dinner dances, and the auction & luncheon.)
General Operating Support - $500 will help ensure that the office rent and utility bills are paid so that the doors remain open with a staff person or board member who are there to administer our 4 major programs.

MCNAA’s “Give Every Month” Program
The Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness is a non-profit organization that does not receive consistent grant funding. Also, since early 2020, all in-person fundraising events, that helped bring in much needed program funds, had to be canceled. Because of this, we felt it essential to create a monthly giving program to help provide a reliable, steady influx of income.
With broad ongoing support from individual donors like you, the program will help boost our monthly revenue stream and allow us to plan smarter and easily project revenue and expenses. Although small, we are seeing a growing number of supporters join MCNAA’s GEM (Give Every Month) Circle and pay it forward in this meaningful way. We hope you will become a GEM donor and commit to a reoccurring donation whether it is from you as an individual, or from your small or large business

Other Ways
Several other ways you can donate to the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness include:
(1) Take up a collection during your church service or at your civic organization’s meeting.
(2) Commit to donating a certain percentage of your business profits from the sale of goods or services.
(3) Hold a fundraiser at your college or university among club members (bake sale, music concert, stage play/performance, etc.).
(4) Hold a raffle drawing (an item or 50/50 cash) at your work place, civic organization, college club, etc.

Workplace Giving Campaigns
Corporate Matching Gift
Contact your Human Resources Department to see if your company has a matching gift program. If so, ask what their process is to match your gift to the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness. The process is quite simple.
Commonwealth of Massachusetts Employees Charitable Campaign (COMECC)
COMECC, the only authorized payroll deduction workplace solicitation, is conducted under the authority of the Secretary of Administration & Finance. COMECC is voluntary and it affords state employees the opportunity to support private, nonprofit health and human services and environmental organizations. COMECC is the one opportunity state employees have to share in the spirit of giving, in order to assist those who might be experiencing hardship or temporary crisis in their lives. Your one-time contribution or gift through payroll deduction can make a significant difference in the lives of children, families and communities across the state. When the brochure is passed around at your workplace, please donate to the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness.
City of Boston Employees Charitable Campaign (COBECC)
COBECC is voluntary and it affords City employees the opportunity to support private, nonprofit health and human services and environmental organizations like the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness. To keep things simple, the City of Boston allows only one on-the-job fundraising campaign. Look for the brochure and donate to the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness.
Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season (September 1st to December 15th) support eligible non-profit organizations like the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness.
